"Instructional Delivery and Management"
Element: 4.1- Demonstrate effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills across a
variety of instructional formats
Artifact: EDU 256 Module 13: Bulletin Board
Date: Winter Break 2011
Reflection:
For my 256 field experience I was placed in Highland School District. The first half of the
placement I was in Highland High School, my host teacher was Mr. Bowman. The second half of my placement I was in Highland Middle School with Mrs. Eckert. During this experience I made a bulletin board about cardiovascular fitness. The High School didn’t have any bulletin boards left so one day after school I went to the elementary school and put up a board. This subject was perfect some classes were working with this subject and actually used the diagrams I put up during lessons. The activity chart and activity pyramid were the ones the district used. I got many complements on my work and was happy the students thought it was useful. I had four ways to have a healthy heart including, physical activity, visiting the doctor, getting proper sleep and eating healthy foods. With the list I gave examples and detailed ways to do these four topics. I used charts, pictures and written out activities to teach this important subject. Using bulletin boards to give information and educate students is vital in a school. Having teachers who are willing to spend the hours to make sure the board is perfect is something districts need in order to promote learning.
